# Accessibility Statement

If any part of this site prevents you from getting the information you need, tell us and we will fix it.

Strilla Communications Company aims to meet WCAG 2.2 Level AA on this website. That includes keyboard operability throughout, visible focus indicators, sufficient color contrast, semantic structure, descriptive alternative text, reduced motion support and a layout that does not overflow horizontally down to small phone widths.

## Our target

We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.2 at Level AA. That standard is the common reference point for public accessibility requirements and is what we design and build against.

Many of the people who use this site are reviewing it on a phone in a truck cab, on a laptop in a procurement office, or with a screen reader. Building to one recognized standard serves all of them better than designing for one assumed visitor.

## What has been implemented

The following are deliberate design and build decisions rather than incidental outcomes.

- Semantic HTML structure with correct heading order and landmark regions
- Full keyboard operability, including the navigation menus and the bid form
- A visible focus indicator on every interactive element
- A skip to main content link as the first focusable item on every page
- Color contrast validated against the AA thresholds for text and interface elements
- No use of color alone to convey meaning
- Descriptive alternative text on images that carry information
- Form fields with programmatic labels, inline error messages and an error summary
- Form fields and main buttons at least 48 pixels tall
- Respect for the reduced motion preference, which disables non essential animation
- Support for high contrast and forced colors modes
- A layout that reflows without horizontal scrolling down to small screen widths
- A print stylesheet that removes navigation and expands content for reading offline

## How the consent banner and forms are made accessible

The cookie banner is announced as a labeled dialog, does not trap focus, and can be operated entirely by keyboard. The Manage Choices panel closes with the Escape key and returns you to the compact bar.

The bid form shows errors next to the field they relate to and in a summary at the top, so a screen reader user hears what needs fixing without hunting for it. Required fields carry an asterisk and are flagged as required in the page code, so they are not indicated by color alone.

## How this is tested

Automated checks are run against the pages during development. Automated testing alone does not establish conformance, so it is supplemented with manual keyboard traversal and review of the accessibility tree for the more complex components, specifically the navigation menu, the mobile drawer, the bid form and the consent controls.

Color pairs used across the site are checked against the AA contrast thresholds as part of the build, so a design change that would drop below them is caught before it is published.

## Known limitations

The embedded map on the contact page and in the footer is provided by a third party. It loads only when you choose to load it, and its internal accessibility is outside our control. The full address is presented as text alongside it so the map is never the only route to that information.

Downloadable and third party content may not always meet the same standard. If you encounter something you cannot access, contact us and we will provide the information in another format.

Limitations identified through ongoing review are corrected as they are found, and this statement is updated when a known limitation remains open.

## How to report a barrier

If any part of this website prevents you from finding information or completing a task, please tell us. Email hello@strillacommunications.com or call (386) 396-2033, and describe the page and what happened.

We will acknowledge your report and work to resolve the issue. If a fix will take time, we will provide the information you needed by another means in the meantime.

## Key takeaways

- The Strilla Communications website is designed and built to WCAG 2.2 Level AA.
- Every interactive element on the site, including the bid form and the consent controls, is operable by keyboard.
- Automated accessibility checks are supplemented by manual keyboard and accessibility tree review of the most complex components.
- Anyone who meets a barrier can request the same information by phone or email while a fix is made.

## Key terms

**WCAG 2.2 Level AA**: The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines published by the World Wide Web Consortium, at the middle of three conformance levels. Level AA covers contrast, keyboard access, focus visibility, text alternatives, form errors, reflow and target size, and is the level most public accessibility requirements reference.

**Accessibility tree**: The structured view of a page that browsers pass to assistive technology such as screen readers. It lists each element's role, name and state. Reviewing it shows whether a menu, dialog or form field will be announced correctly, which automated scanners alone cannot fully confirm.

**Reflow**: The ability of a page to fit a narrow screen or high zoom level without forcing the reader to scroll sideways to read a line. It matters for phone users and for people who enlarge text, and it is one of the WCAG Level AA requirements.

## Frequently Asked Questions

**Which accessibility standard does this site target?**: WCAG 2.2 at Level AA. That covers keyboard operability, visible focus, color contrast thresholds, semantic structure, text alternatives, form labeling and error handling, reflow without horizontal scrolling, and target sizing. It is the standard most public accessibility requirements reference, which is why we build to it rather than to a lower bar.

**Can I use this site entirely by keyboard?**: Yes. Every interactive element is reachable and operable by keyboard, including the navigation menus, the mobile drawer, the bid form and the consent controls. A skip to main content link is the first focusable item on every page, and focus indicators are visible throughout rather than suppressed for aesthetic reasons.

**What should I do if I cannot access something here?**: Contact us at hello@strillacommunications.com or (386) 396-2033 and describe the page and what happened. We will acknowledge the report and work on a fix. If the fix will take time, we will supply the information you were looking for by another means rather than leave you waiting on a code change.

**Can I submit a bid request without using the online form?**: Yes. If the form is difficult to use with your setup, call (386) 396-2033 or email hello@strillacommunications.com with the project details and attach any plans to the email. The same information reaches the same people, and a request made by phone or email is handled the same way as one made through the form.

**Does the site respect reduced motion settings?**: Yes. If your operating system or browser is set to reduce motion, non essential animation on the site is switched off. Content still appears and every control still works. The setting is read automatically, so you do not need to change anything on this site to benefit from it.

**Is the cookie banner accessible to screen reader users?**: It is built to be. The banner is announced as a labeled dialog, its buttons have plain text names, and it does not trap keyboard focus. The Manage Choices panel can be closed with the Escape key. If you find it hard to use with your assistive technology, tell us and we will look at it.
