What should I include when I ask for a bid?

Send enough for an estimator to picture the route. A clear scope gets a firm number faster, and it keeps the price from moving once the crew sees the site. You do not need every item below to make contact, but each one you include takes a question out of the follow up call.

  • Project type: directional drilling, aerial, splicing, conduit, maintenance or a mix
  • Location: street names, city and county, or a route map
  • Approximate footage, plus the number of road, driveway and water crossings
  • Plans, specifications or a design package, if one exists
  • Duct size and count, cable type or fiber count where known
  • Target start date, completion date and any work hour limits
  • Permit status and who holds the permit
  • Closeout and as-built requirements from the owner or agency

Most bid requests receive a response within one business day. The Request a Bid form accepts plan and specification uploads, and the bid request checklist covers the same items in more detail.

For a general question, such as whether a city is in range or whether a scope fits the services listed here, email or call. One or two sentences is enough to start.

How are emergencies handled?

Call (386) 396-2033, at any hour. Emergency calls are answered directly. Mobilization is coordinated on the call. Do not use email or the bid form for a live outage, because a call is the fastest way to get equipment moving.

These details help the person on the call decide what to send:

  • The location, as close as you can get: road, cross street or pole number
  • What failed: a cut, a storm damaged span, a dig-in or an unknown outage
  • Whether the plant is aerial, underground or both
  • Whether the site is safe and accessible
  • Who to meet on site and how to reach them

If a line is down across a road or a damaged cable could be energized, call 911 and the power utility first. Restoration work starts once the site is safe.

Questions about getting in touch

What is the best way to contact Strilla Communications?
Call (386) 396-2033 for anything urgent or anything you want to talk through, and use the Request a Bid form when you have a defined scope to price. Email works for general questions and for sending files. All three reach the same office in New Smyrna Beach, not a call center or an outside answering service.
How quickly will I hear back about a bid?
Most bid requests receive a response within one business day. Large or unusual scopes may need a follow up call or a site visit before a firm number, and you will be told that in the first reply. Including plans, footage and schedule in the first message is the surest way to keep the turnaround short.
Can I send plans or drawings?
Yes. The Request a Bid form accepts file uploads, and you can also email plans, specifications, route maps or permit drawings. Marked up aerial photos or a sketch on a map are useful when formal plans do not exist yet. The more the estimator can see, the fewer assumptions end up in the price.
Do you work weekends or after hours?
The office is open Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and emergency restoration is available 24/7. Planned construction outside normal hours, such as night work a permit requires on a busy road, is scheduled as part of the project. Mention any work hour limits in your bid request so the schedule reflects them.
Do you take jobs outside Volusia County?
Yes. Volusia County is the primary service area, with active coverage across Orange, Seminole, Osceola, Lake and Polk Counties. Larger programs elsewhere in Florida are scoped on a case by case basis. Include the job location in your first message so the reply can address travel, permitting authority and scheduling for that area.
Can I visit the office in New Smyrna Beach?
The office is at 2174 Jungle Rd, New Smyrna Beach, FL 32168. Because crews and project staff are often in the field, call ahead to set a time instead of stopping by. A scheduled meeting means the person who knows your project, or the estimator for your scope, is there to talk with you.

Request a Bid

Ready to start your next directional drilling or fiber project?

Send the scope and we will come back with a clear, documented bid. Owned crews, aerial and underground under one contract, and a closeout package that lets you close the file.

Most bid requests receive a response within one business day.
